Biography
Lina Rivera attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where she majored in Creative Writing and minored in Photography. While at USC, she was accepted into the advanced writing program by T.C. Boyle and studied under the acclaimed author as well as other authors such as Carol Muske-Dukes and Michelle Latiolais.
After graduating from USC, Lina focused on a career in the music industry, interning at A&M Records, before landing a job at a highly respected music law firm. While working at the law firm, she started her own underground music zine, Mix Tape Journal, which focused on reviewing CDs and concerts, and interviewing bands such as Gay Dad, Stereophonics, and Muse.
Having to move back to Orlando for personal reasons, Lina began working at a major publishing company, and focused her attention on her writing. She entered the world of online fiction where she quickly developed a fan base and won several online fiction awards. She decided that the next step was to try and submit her work for publication. Her short story, “California,” was submitted to the Bomb Magazine fiction contest where it was shortlisted.
She is now actively looking for an agent for her two young adult novels. One is a supernatural story, the other is a coming of age love triangle, but they both were inspired by living in the unique state of Florida.
